Assuming a 50 MB/s rebuild speed: >2006 >160GB disk rebuilds in an hour >2017 >6TB disk takes a day to rebuild So you're running -1 disk in your array for that whole rebuild time. Also, a full rebuild means that you're reading the whole disk surface, during which a bad sector can be encountered. tments not to attempt to rebuild failing raid arrays or replace a failed drive in a raid array without having a complete backup of all data contained in the array. Attempting to rebuild a failing raid array or replacing a failed drive, using the original drives can result in partial or complete loss of the data.
Unraid is also pretty great about managing data and shares--makes it super easy for someone who doesn't want ot worry about it. A single parity disk and no striping means you can eat a single disk loss, and since the drives don't have to match, you can build it with a bunch of different brand drives from different systems which makes a multiple ...

I do all SSD in all my rigs and for all customers. We are using HDDs just for occasional backup. I know its considered questionable and somehow expensive but I dont see a reason for 10G to go with HDDs. RAID is not backup and speed is achieved much faster using few SSDs. Unraid approach is interesting but its slow like really slow using parity. I have tried multiple times to get CrashPlan running on my unRAID server and was never successful, until now! I started using unRAID shortly after installing WHSv1 and coming to the realization that the dtat protection solution used by WHSv1 was very wasteful and would require double the space fo...
