• It's like an extremely loud rattling/clanking noise. It doesn't do it when cranking, it's only when the car first starts up (more noticeable on cold start-up). It's also not every time you start it, only when it's been sitting awhile (such as over night). I'm not exactly sure what it is but it's pretty loud.

• got one from a company auction.1997 extended cab F150 with 286,000 on it. only paid $750 fo but runs fine a/c and all power. and it too has this rattle.. i did an oil change used 10/30 oil and 1 qt lucas oil stabilizer and it shut right up. now just stick it out on the street and try and make some extra cash.

• Jun 02, 2014 · The F150 rode rougher even when new than the 2004 Silverado I traded for it. The 04 Silverado got hit twice in a year is why I even traded at all and I thought I'd try the F150. I think maybe the F150 was built more for work and the Silverados (1/2 ton 1500) more for basic transportation. I don't know.
